Methodology

Islamic Academy collects and organises existing scholarship. It does not issue rulings or rank opinions.

Topics and positions

Each topic is a question with a stated proposition. A source is classified for each topic it addresses as Supporting, Opposing or Neutral towards that proposition. These three are the only public categories. Conditions and caveats are preserved as qualifications on the source's entry. When a position cannot be responsibly identified the source stays unpublished until an editor reviews it — Neutral is never used to express uncertainty.

No position is colour-coded, ranked, scored or voted on. The order of sources within a tab is chronological by publication in the repository.

People and roles

A person's profile shows only words directly attributed to them. Compilers, narrators, commentators and authenticity assessors are distinct roles: a hadith compiled by al-Bukhari is filed under Sahih al-Bukhari with its narrators, not as a statement of al-Bukhari. Gradings are shown as reported by the citing source, with the grader named.

Where an article quotes a scholar, we distinguish the scholar's own position from the use the article makes of the quotation.

References

Every reference keeps its original wording. Structured fields (volume, page, chapter, hadith number, numbering system) are filled only from what the source provides. APA 7 references are generated only when the required elements exist; otherwise the record is marked incomplete and the missing elements are listed. Traditional citation forms are shown alongside.

Hadith and Qur'an

Hadith are identified by collection, numbering system and number, with alternative numberings preserved. Wording, narrators and gradings are recorded only as supplied by sources and are never reconstructed. Qur'an references are validated against the 114 surahs and their verse counts (Hafs numbering).

Republication

Source pages show an original summary, short excerpts and a link to the publisher. Full text is reproduced only when republication is permitted.

Workflow

Material is prepared with Gemini as standardised JSON (guide), validated, matched against existing records to prevent duplicates, reviewed by an editor and only then published. Every import and publication is recorded in an audit log.
